York Georgian Masquerade Ball
You are cordially invited to the event of the season, where dancing, dining and daring disguise combine in the authentic setting of York’s Grand Assembly Rooms!
Masquerade balls were an opportunity to dress up, play a part and maintain a sense of mystery, and we will be recreating the magic of these extravagant occasions this summer as part of the annual York Georgian Festival.
The glittering dancefloor will take centre stage, and whether you’re a practised historical dancer or a complete beginner, you can dance the night away to the music of the day, played live by the excellent Eboracum Baroque, with the gentle guidance of our dance mistress.
Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomed with a friendly tipple from the fabulous York Gin (or a zero alcohol option), before being served with a delicious three-course meal. The evening will be a relaxed affair, giving you the choice of when to join in the dancing and whether to unmask yourself!
Dress code: We invite you to wear a mask if you feel comfortable and welcome you in all of your Georgian finery from the early period to the regency era! However we want you to feel your most fabulous, so all evening attire is welcome. Comfortable shoes for dancing are advised.
Dietary: For any dietary restrictions/ preferences please contact ymhevents@york.gov.uk or 01904553663 as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.
